プロジェクトデータ
The African Biodiversity Challenge is a project coordinated by South Africa National Biodiversity Institute (SANBI)and funded by JRS Biodiversity Foundation. Its main focus is mobilising Biodiversity data and making it accessible through online platforms such as GBIF Website. The National Herbarium and Botanic Gardens of Malawi and the Museums of Malawi hold large collections of the countries flora and fauna respectively. These collections are used as reference material for taxonomic research, species identification, species distribution, red list assessments and educational purposes. However, both Institutions collections are partly digitised which make it difficult to be accessed by researchers, policy makers and conservationists. In order to make Malawi's biodiversity data widely accessible, the project will initiate the formal process, through the National Commission for Science and Technology and the Environmental Affairs department to ensure that all biodiversity data is accessible by establishing a biodiversity information facility as well as publishing the data online such as on GBIF website.
